Need: Cool Shirts
Necessity is the mother of invention. I wanted shirts I'd actually wear. That's it. That's the origin story. No epiphany on a mountaintop, no brand manifesto scribbled on a napkin at 2 AM. I just kept buying shirts that were either covered in someone else's idea of clever or so plain they could've come wrapped in plastic from a gas station. So I bought a heat press, watched a bunch of YouTube videos, and started making my own.
Durable Union runs out of my garage. I print on a 15×15 heat press, one shirt at a time. The operation is small on purpose — not because I'm trying to romanticize it, but because it lets me make exactly what I want and nothing I don't. Every design I put on a shirt is something I like to wear. If it doesn't clear that bar, it doesn't get printed.
I'm still learning. Still getting better. Still in the garage. But every shirt that goes out is one I'd wear any day of the week, and that's the only metric that matters to me right now.
